Siren Battle Armour

Seeing as Sirens are built very much like greyhounds, they would be more suited to quick attacks than prolonged heavy combat. To allow for this, my armor is designed less for complete protection and more for maneuverability. My armour is also designed to be easy to discard in case of damage, so as not to hinder the Siren in battle.

I didn't see a need for a helmet as there isn't anything particularly vulnerable on the head. However, the method of attaching the reins would need to be customized for each Siren due to the extreme variety in skull shape.

As Sirens have flexible spines like canines, the area available for riding support is pretty much limited to the shoulders. Please see *Droemar's tutorial on riding for details. As such, the saddle is designed to maximize the riding area on the siren and provide an easier seating arrangement for the rider. The saddle has large 'flaps' coming out of the sides to allow the rider to comfortably be seated in an almost kneeling position while fighting.

Also, due to the small size of sirens, riders would likely need to be restricted to smaller woman and teens in order not to put undue strain on the mount.

Lightweight, flexible chain mail protects the vital areas, such as the underside of the neck, the belly, and the upper thigh area. Solid interlocking metal plates cover the back of the neck, the chest, and the hip area. The legs are wrapped in leather strips to provide stability and minor protection. Joints may be covered by small metal plates attached to leather leg wraps. Furs or blankets are placed underneath the saddle and the leather fastening straps to reduce discomfort due to chafing.
